EAR/ONS Update 6-25-2017

Sorry I haven’t been blogging as much, but I have been slammed with the release of The Bermuda Triangle II. The big advertising hasn’t begun yet, and I am partly to blame for that.

But Q Files is slowly being updated. The home page will become like my desktop, revealing to surfers my upcoming projects and dividing the projects according to how they will culminate: in web presentations or books. Cover-final-BTII

Now, as for DURON as a clue in EAR/ONS: There is a possibility  there was a connection. As a clue it comes down more to “CORN” than the paint chips. It was dark that night in Danville and the couple was taken by alarm at the man standing in the shadows. No one has “CORN” on their jacket. Crompton went nowhere with “COORS;” Shelby with “COACH;” and I with “COBRA.” Is it possible that DURON appeared as “CORN”  to the frightened couple?

Much has been said about the paint chips found at certain locations ion victims’ houses. In and of themselves they might not lead to anything, but when you find after-the-fact that your POI had family connections to such a paint business, you begin to wonder. He had two working parents. He may have worked both of their connections– in auto wrecking and paint supplies/real estate without showing any over connection with momma’s business.

Following the real estate angle has led investigators nowhere for decades, but if EAR had a connection with someone who dealt in supplying paint for new home construction and finishing he would have an inside into the locations of new tracts of homes being built. The paint chips would not need to come from him. They could have come from the workers finishing the home. But you can see the connection.  It was a way into neighborhoods without having a direct connection to construction.

So, the upshot is that tracing paint chips may go nowhere, but after-the-fact a connection with supplying paint is curious. Can the DURON logo appear as “CORN” at night, in the dark, from an angle, to a startled couple in bed?

EAR was unusually successful. It shouldn’t be surprising that he worked more than one angle during his crime spree in order to stalk neighborhoods, both up close and from afar.

  1. great post! let’s hope for the best as you did a great job on this case. gian any chance you heard the 12-26-75 podcast on the vr? they did a great job of detailing every ransacking and some thoughts of him being big butted and had a funny walk is debatable but how he and det McGowen met and what really happened that night is amazing! thanks for all you do for this case!

  2. I think it’s very plausible that the logo could have been read as DURON late at night, at an angle, and to a startled couple. Our eyes can play funny tricks on us, especially under extreme duress and when things are happening so fast. I hope it turns out to be a solid lead to the case.

  3. This post made me think of the Water Tower connection you made to many of the attack areas – have you looked into whether DURON provided any paint or services that were linked to maintenance of these towers perhaps?
