Yesterday for the first time in a long time I afforded myself a day off from the dark light of cold cases. I was introduced to the District Attorney’s official investigator of the DNA Unit and handed off so that my files will now go to him. You can interpret from this that everybody is past little vignettes and theorizing on the Night Predator. It’s down to identifying him. I worked one entire angle on my own– auto wrecking and things pertaining thereunto. So I suppose the door is open for me for this reason. Wesley has told me EAR/ONS is 4th on the FBI’s want list. Everybody wants him. No one wants him to become another Jack the Ripper.
But I must digress here yet again. There is NO Golden State Killer!!!!!!! People continue to call EAR/ONS that, but the truth of it is that there is no such serial murderer as GSK. Nor can there be. No serial killer has ever been given the honor, the distinction if you will, of meriting a State’s official nickname. Period. There is no Show-Me State Killer for Missouri. No Empire State Killer for New York. No Volunteer State Killer for Tennessee. I don’t know how many times I have to say this.
I don’t care if EAR/ONS is a bad handle. You don’t reach out for a totally bogus handle that doesn’t reflect the killer’s MO or style and then elevate him to an official product or tourist attraction of the State.
Now that being said, in relaxing yesterday I did a little adjustment of a very unappreciated sketch purporting to be EAR. It comes from the CCC area, and it reflects other features reported elsewhere– except his eyes are not so close together as they supposedly were. There is only one witness description to his face, and the sketch is not a very concise one. So I mixed the witness sketch (which opens this post) with the San Ramon sketch.
Roman nose rather than pug nose, darker features, leaner face, shorter neck. I adjusted only one eyebrow to contrast whether his brows were thin or thicker.
In the POIs that I have submitted, I must pivot between the two extremes of witness descriptions– a short guy in his 30s with dark hair and a young man in his late teens to early 20s with dishwater blonde hair. These two extremes are consistent. The description of the older EAR is that of a shorter man– topping at 5 foot 6 inches, though taller probably depending on the type of shoe he was wearing. His hair is very dark brown. He is hairy. The younger guy is taller, less hair.
The adjustment of the sketch above is for the older, shorter EAR. His eyes are close together (in real life). He has a short neck. Hairy legs. He is mid 30s.
In the 2 POIs I have recently submitted, they represent both of the extremes above and one especially had the wherewithal to be responsible for every clue EAR left behind, including finally, the explanation for how he knew where the canals were.

Since 1990 Gian J. Quasar has investigated a broad range of mysterious subjects, from strange disappearances to serial murders, earning in that time the unique distinction of being likened to “the real life Kolchak.” However, he is much more at home with being called The Quester or Q Man. “He’s bloody eccentric, an historian with no qualifications who sticks his nose into affairs and gets results.” He is the author of several books, one of which inspired a Resolution in Congress.
